They say 'a pen is mightier than a sword'. For what I know, they
missed saying 'a pen is easier to use than the boneless tongue.'. When I
was asked "Why do you write?", all I could say was that I get to
express my thoughts. I still wonder why I wasn't shot with a
tranquilizer labelled "Where in the world is your tongue boy? Spit it
out if you wanna express. Why do you wanna waste time jotting down?".
Well may be because she knew the difference way better than I did.
You know you can't tell that faculty how much you hate him... You
know you can't be running around telling the ministers that the public
knows how bloody corrupted they are... You know you're in trouble if you
had to tell the one you like about how you feel... "I love you",not
many have the guts to actually say it.
You need your thoughts to splash out in the crowd... But your voice
isn't strong enough to reach them. So what is it to be? Let go of what
you had to tell 'em? No! Jot them somewhere, add your expressions, add
your emotions, add your feelings, add more, add even more, add much
more... Once you know you've let out everything you had to speak out
into texts,you're ready to fire.
Writing is all about expressing what you would fail to express when
you speak. The basic requirement of having to look into the eyes of the
listener and fearing the way they would be triggered to respond when you
speak to them, is something that make writing much more simpler as it
misses the exact same idea. You do not have to worry about how you
look, nor about your voice, nor the damn accent. You may speak and drill
your ideas into the minds of hundreds, but the remaining thousands who
doesn't understand your cheesy Indian accent blended with an artificial
flavor of UK or US English would be light years away from what you tried
to tell them.
Hence the advantage of writing! The ones who read, read it in the way
they would understand. They decide the tempo and the tone. If they do
not understand, they have the choice to read it over again. They have
the time to think... They have the time to imagine... They have the time
to decide...
To me,spoken words are like the fox-two missiles. Once they are out
of your mouth, there is no calling back. They would follow, seek, and
destroy the target... On the other face,writing-You can edit it before you launch!
